2004-08-12 : The Dream Woman Tattoo
"Ethnic Gourment" frozen dinners are good (and that justifies them being slightly more expensive than I usually like to pay for a frozen dinner)...I had Chicken Tikka Masala.

I'm listening to the cd's I checked out from the library: Best of Leadbelly, The Quintessential Django Reinhardt/Stephane Grappelli, Thelonious Monk w/John Coltrane, and Jelly Roll Morton "The Red Hot Peppers Sessions". I'm really enjoying listening to all this classic blues/jazz. I'm definetly a rock chick but my taste varies much more than I sometimes let on and I'm trying to expose myself to more old blues and jazz (which I love...it just transports me to another time.) I've always had a rich fantasy life involving me living in many different decades. If time-travel really exists then I'd love to be able to do it...(see www.johntitor.com for some really kooky and interesting time-travel stuff) I'm such an escapist!! I've been listening to FAR too much coast-to-coast before falling asleep. It's such a great show though. Take last night. This female called in and told this really eerie story, which I will paraphrase for you:

She was in Reno one year playing blackjack in some casino. She starts to notice this man across "the pit" from her who is staring so intently at her that it starts to creep her out big time (she's thinking: pervert, stalker, rapist)..So she alerts the dealer who alerts security and soon enough two burly types walk over to the man and have a few words with him. They then bring him over to her and he apologizes for staring at her and for scaring her. Then he says "Ok. I HAVE to show you something." He then lifts up his shirt sleeve and upon it she sees a tattoo of HER FACE (her EXACT face)...She says that the tattoo is even more like her than most photos taken of her..it's HER. She can't really believe this, and he tells her that he had been in prison for awhile and he kept having this recurring dream with a woman's face. He sort of fell in love with his "dream woman" enough so that he had her dream image tattooed on his arm. Well, needless to say, the lady and the man did end up having dinner together but they never fell in love or got married or anything and went their separate ways.

Isn't that a great story? True or not, I just find it absolutely mind-boggling!!! The best part of coast-to-coast isn't always the guest speakers..it's sometimes just the 2 minute stories the callers have to share!!

I have that interview for the Montessori school assistant in a couple of hours..wish me luck!!

I'm SOO tired of 90 degree weather. Last night I was so cranky and out of sorts from the heat that I just started crying. I really don't do well in hot weather..*sigh*

My friend Jill and her boyfriend Eric are coming down from Seattle to visit. I'm excited because I haven't seen them (or any of my other friends that live in Seattle) for almost a year now. I imagine we'll drive to Florence and other parts of the coast around there on Saturday and frolic on the beach and stare in awe at the Ocean. I won't forget the sunscreen!
